This weekend we were in Pistoia always looking for new stories about artisans and territories and cities to explore.
Pistoia is just 30 km from Florence and it is easily reached by train or car. It is also a good start for a visit of other famous surroundings, above all the Health SPA of Montecatini and the towns of Lucca and Pisa.
The main occasion was the visit of the Arts & Crafts fair held in the former Brera factory right outside the train station. Here we made some interesting encounters, between the Tuscan tradition and the emerging youth.
Arezzo is the main city, at the center of a geographical area full of beautiful villages in the middle of an uncontaminated nature that make this part of Tuscany unique, a little more secluded from the usual tourist routes but rich of historical and artisan traditions.
East of Arezzo lies the old town of Anghiari that annually hosts an open show dedicated to the handicraft workshops of Arezzo and its valleys (Casentino, Valdarno, Valdichiana and Valtiberina). And we thought it was the right time to visit this region.
Those who follow us on our Instagram and Facebook profile will have seen photographic previews of the 41st Mostra Mercato dell’Artigianato della Valtiberina Toscana.
It is Christmas time and in Italy there’s the tradition to recreate the Nativity scene next to the Christmas tree, so I decided to visit Naples where there are the grandest and most peculiar artifacts.
